What?

This one-week residential programme is aimed at Year 11 and 12 students (you must be 16 or over), and will broadly cover careers in medicine, nursing and midwifery and the Allied Health Professions. The course will enable you to:

• get a sharper understanding of career pathways in different professions
• learn what makes for a good university application
• see a range of hospital departments at work
• learn some core medical skills.

As modern healthcare is all about working in multi-professional groups you will also develop your team working skills through medical simulation scenarios in our state-of -the-art medical training facilities.

 

Who?

Us ~ UCLH is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and provides first-class acute and specialist services in six hospitals. We deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education and world-class research. The teachers and facilitators for the course are all experienced clinicians and educators from across the Trust.

You ~ we advertise nationally so the course participants will be from across the UK as will be the case when you get to university.

Where?

The course will be held in the UCLH Education Centre on the Euston Road. You will be staying in UCL Halls of Residence in the heart of London so you’ll also get a feel for what it will be like as a student living away from home.

How much?

The course fee is £395. This includes all course materials, accomodation, meals and refreshments.

The UCLH Careers in Healthcare Summer School is a quite unique opportunity to acquire a range of experiences which will help both with your decision making as to which profession you want to apply for and give you  something very different to talk about in your university interview.

When?

The course runs from the 8th - 12th July 2019.

How?

To apply for a place you must complete all sections of the application form.

Disclaimer: there are limited number of places on the course, and participants will be accepted on the basis of their supporting statements, predicted grades and school reference.

If you would like to express interest in a particular area, please let us know and we’ll do our very best to accommodate. PLEASE NOTE places in you desired area are not guaranteed however as mentioned we will do our very best to accommodate.

Please be aware not all places on The UCLH Summer School programme will be fee paying. Some places will be paid for via selected charities, if you would like to know more about this, please do let us know.
